This site highlights current students
in and graduates of a unique design leadership program. They are working toward or earned MBA/MA dual degrees from the Johns Hopkins University's Carey Business School (MBA) and the Maryland Institute College of Art (MA). This is the only program in the country where students simultaneously work to earn graduate degrees from both a major college of art and design and a business school at a major research university.

Bonnie Robeson, PhD, is a lecturer at Carey Business School specializing in the area of entrepreneurship in biotechnology. Her teaching interests include statistics for business, quantitative analysis for decision making, the business side of life science, and strategies for leading and managing in a science life organization. In 1994, Bonnie was honored with the Excellence in Teaching Award at Johns Hopkins University, School of Continuing Studies. She earned her MA in Management from Johns Hopkins University and her PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from West Virginia University.
Matt McDermott works in advertising, believes in the healing powers of a high-five, and wants little more than to help brands talk to consumers like human beings. Organizations that have let him within fifteen feet of their brands include Comcast, Motorola, National Geographic Channel, Black & Decker, Cal Ripken Baseball, Time Warner Cable, Sony TriStar, Poker Players Alliance, National Rifle Association, the University of Maryland, and the United States Navy. He has a BS from Towson University in Mass Communication (Media Production Concentration), a BS in English (Writing Concentration) also from Towson University, and an MA in Education (English as a Second Language) from Johns Hopkins University.
Becky Slogeris is the graphic administrator for the argumentation-based professional development initiative and debate program for Baltimore City Public School students, a consultant and curriculum writer for educational marketing at Carrot New York, a teaching artist at the Center For Urban Pedagogy, New York, and an Instructor for Wide Angle Youth Media, which focuses on teaching high school students with an aim to improve attendance through a focus on public transportation. She has a BA in Graphic Design and an MA in Social Design both from Maryland Institute College of Art.
Andres Zapata teaches in MICA's MFA in Graphic Design and is a partner and senior IA/ID/UX strategist at idfive. Andres specializes in requirement gathering and documentation, information architecture, usability design, workflow and data design, research, analysis, communication, public speaking, problem solving, critical thinking, client relations, and account management. Andres holds a BA in Sociology, Communications, and Media Studies from Goucher College, an MA in Publication Design from the University of Baltimore, and an MBA in Integrated Marketing from Johns Hopkins University.
Negar Moshiri is a senior consultant with Navigation Arts, and has specialties in UX leadership, UX design, information architecture, user research, usability engineering, product management, product strategy, engineering management, and technical sales. She was most recently Vice President of User Experience and Application Design at Hillcrest Labs and Principal Engineer at SALIX Technologies. Negar holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and an ME in Computer Engineering, both from the University of Maryland.
